In August 2017, hundreds of neo-Nazis and white supremacists descended upon the college town of Charlottesville, Virginia to terrorize its residents and commit acts of violence.

On January 7, 2021, neo-Nazis and white supremacists stormed the U.S. Capitol Building, attempting insurrection, leaving dead and injured in their wake.

“There is a direct line from Charlottesville to the Capitol attack,” says Amy Spitalnick, Executive Director of the Civil Rights group, Integrity First for America (IFA). “It runs straight through years of hate, disinformation and conspiracies.”

Please join us as Amy Spitalnick, attorney Alan Levine and Rabbi Dara Frimmer discuss Sines v. Kessler, IFA’s landmark lawsuit seeking to bankrupt and dismantle the hate groups responsible for Charlottesville. These groups are at the center of the white supremacist movement. More than 500 interfaith clergy and religious leaders support the suit. Trial is set for April.

Amy brings to IFA extensive experience in government, politics, and advocacy, including as Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor to the New York Attorney General; Communications Advisor and Spokesperson for the New York City Mayor; and Communications Director in the New York State Senate. She has worked on a number of federal, state, and local campaigns and for advocacy organizations.

Alan Levine is Senior Counsel at the law firm, Cooley LLP, and one of several attorneys representing the plaintiffs in Sines v. Kessler. His practice includes commercial litigation, securities litigation and white collar and regulatory practice groups of the firm's litigation department. For 40+ years, Alan has represented individuals and companies in complex civil, criminal and regulatory matters as lead counsel.
