This discussion will be facilitated by Suzanne Solig. We will be reading The Geranium by Flannery O'Connor, I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen, and Everyday Use by Alice Walker.

During this physically isolating time of COVID-19, many of us are practicing or observing parent-child-grandparent relationships either electronically or out our kitchen window.  These three stories, all dealing with family relationships, were written 74 (The Geranium by Flannery O'Connor), 64 (I Stand Here Ironing by Tillie Olsen), and 47 (Everyday Use by Alice Walker) years ago but reflect some contemporary notions of parenting styles and role reversals. 



In advance of the first time you will use Zoom, make sure your tablet, computer or phone is ready:

  1. If you will be using a computer, go to https://zoom.us/j/4626561612?pwd=WkJUb2VaUzBtZkhuNGZhbyt2RTdmUT09, click "download & run Zoom" and follow the installation instructions.
  2. If you will be using a cell phone or tablet, download the "ZOOM Cloud Meetings" from the app store. (If you are unfamiliar with the app store, use step #1)
