Join us for an evening of nostalgia and of musical "Edu-tainment" as music historian Cary Ginell takes us through an exploration of the highlights of the career of Neil Diamond, a Brooklyn boy who became one of the music world's most successful singer-songwriters.
Neil Diamond has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. He has had ten No. 1 singles on the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts, including "Cracklin' Rose," "Song Sung Blue," and "America."
Neil Diamond retired from performing in 2018, but his five-decade career made him one of the world’s most popular concert draws. He was honored with a place in the Songwriters' Hall of Fame (1984) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2011). He received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, the Grammy Achievement Award in 2018, and was a Kennedy Center honoree in 2011.
Our presenter Cary Ginell brings a lifelong passion for the recording industry to his work and is currently serving as president of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, an international organization of music scholars and world-renowned institutions. He holds a master's degree in folklore from University of California, Los Angeles, and a bachelor's degree in radio/TV/film from California State University, Northridge.
